The funeral takes place this morning of former Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North Central, Seán French.
Mr French, who lived in Schull, Co Cork, served six successive Dáil terms.
He was first elected in November 1967 and retained his seat in the Dáil until 1982 when he was defeated in the November election that year.
He was elected lord mayor of Cork in 1976. He also had a long association with Glen Rovers hurling club.

Mr French died on Christmas Day. He was aged 80.
His funeral Mass takes place today at 10am in St Patrick’s Church, Lower Glanmire Road with burial afterwards in St Finbarr’s Cemetery.
