Racing:Frankel blitzed his rivals in astonishing fashion in the 203rd running of the Qipco 2,000 Guineas. A great deal had been made about Frankel's tendency to race keenly in his races and the presence of Rerouted as a pacemaker but Tom Queally, Henry Cecil and their team had plotted a change of tactics to wondrous effect.

Queally kicked the unbeaten Galileo colt into a clear advantage from the off and was fully four lengths clear at halfway and about 15 lengths clear at the bushes with his rivals left trailing in his wake.

Frankie Dettori was one of the first to react and tried to give chase aboard Casamento but the Godolphin owned runner was soon back-pedalling.

Dubawi Gold and Native Khan were travelling better than most and emerged from the pack to give chase but they never looked like catching Cecil's majestic colt who still had six lengths in hand at the line.

It was a third 2,000 Guineas triumph for Cecil following the successes of Bolkonski (1975) and Wollow (1976).

Queally said: "He was just so much better today than at Newbury. He's made a show of them. The one thing this horse does is gallop - I didn't want to disappoint him, I wanted him to do what he enjoys and he showed them.

"The first thing you think is what speed are we going, because to him it feels like a cruising canter. He quickened up and went away."
