Fourteen tourists, all from the US, are being treated in hospital after their coach crashed into a bridge near Midleton, Co Cork.

Their injuries were not described as serious.

The bus hit a low bridge at Bailick Road in Midleton, a garda spokesman said.

Five of the injured are being treated at the South Infirmary Hospital in Cork city, while the other nine were admitted to Cork University Hospital.

The remaining occupants of the bus, which was carrying up to 40 people, have continued on their journey.
