An off-duty garda was assaulted last night when he approached four youths tampering with a car in Dublin last night.
The attack happened in Palmerstown Square, Dublin 2, at around 1.15 a.m. The garda was admitted to Tallaght Hospital for treatment for head injuries.
Four youths were arrested some time later. Three of them have now been released and the fourth is expected to be released shortly.
A file has been sent to the DPP.
