Gardaí in Limerick have released question four men who were arrested after a leading member of one of the city's feuding families escaped injury in a shooting.

The man in his 20s was shot at twice as he was sitting in his car outside McDonalds' in the Crescent Shopping Centre, Dooradoyle by the pillion passenger on a motorcycle.

Both shots missed and the man was driven away from the scene.

The men were arrested in Fedamore an hour later.

They were questioned at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act but were all released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
