Three men and a woman were shot dead on a street in a working class suburb of Vienna this afternoon afternoon, police said.
"There was a shooting. The deceased are three men and a woman. They are all between 20 and 30 years old and their bodies were found in a parked car and on the pavement next to it," a police spokeswoman said.
The shooting took place in the Favoriten suburb in Vienna,the spokeswoma said, adding that a motive for the incident was not clear.
An eye witness said the driver of the car was trying to reverse into a parking bay when a man opened fire on him and his two passengers "with a kind of machine gun".
The gunman then shot himself, the witness said. AFP
