Managua - An earthquake measuring 5.9 degrees on the Richter scale shook Nicaragua yesterday, leaving four dead and at least 45 injured, authorities said. Some 200 homes have been destroyed and streets buckled in the area of Laguna de Apoyo, some 20 miles southeast of Managua, according to police.
An aftershock registering four on the Richter scale hit the region about 2 1/2 hours after the first quake.
