A former US marine has appeared in court accused of abducting a 12-year-old British girl he met over the Internet.
Toby Studabaker (32) of Michigan allegedly disappeared with the youngster from Greater Manchester, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in July.
He was arrested in Germany and extradited to Britain to face two charges of child abduction.
Appearing at Bolton Crown Court today, the American spoke only to confirm his name and was remanded in custody.
