A former GAA figure who faces 75 charges of sexually molesting children was remanded to a further hearing when he appeared at a Co Monaghan court yesterday. Judge John O'Neill ruled at yesterday's sitting of Ballybay District Court that nothing should be published which would identify the accused or the alleged victims.

The 75 counts relate to alleged indecent assaults on 11 boys and girls, aged between 11 and 15 years, over 20 years from 1958 to 1978. The accused was initially charged on October 2nd and remanded until yesterday's hearing.

The court was told by Mr Roger McGinley, defending, that a book of evidence was served on his client yesterday morning. He said it was a lengthy book and he was seeking an adjournment to a sitting at Carrickmacross on January 12th. Garda Supt Tom Flannery told Judge O'Neill the State had no objection.
