London - One of Britain's top spies, Sir David Spedding, the real-life equivalent of James Bond's "M", has died aged 58, the Foreign Office said yesterday.
Sir David, who ran Britain's foreign intelligence service MI6 for five years until he retired in 1999, was better known in government circles as "C".
