Gardaí in Kilkenny are understood to be awaiting the results of detailed forensic tests from England before arresting the prime suspect in the murder of a local woman last month.

Ms Christine Quinn, a 36-year-old mother of two, was stabbed to death on December 4th at her home at Greenfields Road, Freshford Road, Kilkenny city.

Gardaí are currently preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and are expected to make an arrest once the results come back from England in the next week.

A 16-year-old has been questioned about the murder.
