The Ring of Kerry road remained closed between Killarney and Kenmare yesterday after heavy rainfall overnight which saw the Lakes of Killarney overflowing and spilling on to the road.
A truck and other vehicles became stuck in the flood waters between Killarney and Moll’s Gap about five miles from Killarney.
Some 25mm of rain fell in the Killarney area, with even higher levels in the surrounding mountains, leading to sudden gushes of water into rivers and waterfalls.
