A Welsh woman has claimed the title of the first person to kitesurf across the Irish Sea.
Kirsty Jones, (24) who is the current women's UK kitesurfing champion, left Rosslare yesterday morning and arrived at Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire, west Wales, in just over five hours.
She made the 70-mile trip balanced on a four-foot-long board and attached by harness to a kite to pull her along.
Kirsty, from Carmarthenshire, is hoping to raise around £2,000 for a south Wales hospice for children Ty Hafan, from the event.
Ms Pam Dodd from the hospice said:"Sooner Kirsty than me. She is very brave doing this to raise funds for Ty Hafan.
"It is exceptional that Kirsty has done this. She has a big smile and is delighted to have done it. She had a lot of supporters here on the beach as she arrived."
Kitesurfing started in France about four years ago and has become a popular sport throughout Britain over the last couple of years.
