Fine Gael’s parliamentary party is meeting today for the first time since the general election.

Fine Gael’s parliamentary party is meeting today for the first time since the general election.

The parliamentary party consists of its 31 TDs - down 23 after the election - and outgoing Senators.

Amongst the items on the agenda today is a discussion on the forthcoming Seanad elections. It is thought that several of those that lost Dáil seats will seek a nomination to fight for a seat in the Seanad.

The Fine Gael leadership election process is also due to be discussed today. Mr Michael Noonan resigned as leader because of the scale of losses in the general election.
