Fine Gael said yesterday that it is to pursue its demand for a sworn judicial tribunal of inquiry to make findings of fact on the early release of Philip Sheedy. It will also table a Dail motion on the matter.

The Fine Gael motion calls on the Government to establish an inquiry, to be chaired by a High Court judge or a retired High Court judge, in order to make findings of fact, and to hear evidence from the former chief justice, Mr Liam Hamilton, and those mentioned in his report. The motion also lists a number of others who should be called to give evidence.
