Laranaca - A divorced British mother of four and her boyfriend were detained in Cyprus yesterday after confessing to filing a false report to police that the woman was raped by a local hotel employee.
Ms Susan Michelle Warburton (30) and Mr Paul George Shearsmith (26), from Stockport, pleaded guilty to public mischief and conspiracy charges. The couple claimed Ms Warburton was raped in her hotel room at the south-east resort of Protaras by a hotel employee. But the couple retracted after being interrogated separately by police and admitted to lying in order to get compensation from an insurance company.
