The English FA have charged four players with misconduct, with Patrick Vieira, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Alan Smith and Mark Viduka all facing possible three-match bans.

Leeds's disciplinary problems will be intensified if Smith, who is already serving a five-match ban, is punished further for a body-check on Graeme Le Saux last November, and Viduka is hit banned for allegedly elbowing Arsenal defender Martin Keown last weekend.

Arsenal have just picked up their 11th red card of the season, but they also face potential for further problems as Vieira has been charged with elbowing Hasselbaink at Highbury on Boxing Day.

The Chelsea striker has also been targeted by the FA after an alleged elbow on Claus Lundekvam on New Year's Day at Stamford Bridge in a 4-2 home defeat.

The charges follow incidents that were missed by the match officials at the time but have since been considered by the video advisory panel. All four players have 14 days to respond.
