An English man is facing extradition to the UK in connection with the murder of a British teenager whose headless torso was found behind a hotel in Blackpool. Mr Stuart Michael Diamond (20) appeared at a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Saturday, hours after being arrested in Tralee, Co Kerry. He was remanded in custody to Friday.

Gardai, acting on extradition warrants issued by the British police for the murder of Christopher Hartley (17), arrested Mr Diamond at a house in Denny Street, Tralee, at about 2 a.m. Mr Hartley's body was found in a bin by hotel workers in Blackpool on December 30th.

Det Sgt John Brennan, of Tralee, told the court that when he arrested Mr Diamond, the suspect acknowledged that his name was Stuart Diamond, also known as Stuart Wallace.
