Army bomb disposal experts have made safe a viable explosive device found in Kilbarrack in north Dublin this afternoon.
The device was discovered in the grounds of Coláiste Dhúlaigh this morning. Local residents were evacuated to a safe location by Gardaí, and the area was cordoned off.
The defence forces arrived on scene at 11.40am to examine the device, which was made safe on site before being transferred to a secure military location. The scene was declared safe at 12.30pm.
Further examination revealed the device was viable.
