A suspicious object found in Co Down was a viable explosive device, police confirmed today.
The device was found in the Mount Crescent area of Downpatrick yesterday at 2.45pm.
A number of homes were evacuated while it was examined by army experts.
Officers investigating the find today confirmed the device was viable.
