A judge in the US has adjourned an extradition hearing in the case of a man wanted by the Irish authorities in connection with a woman's suicide five years ago.

George Exoo, a former Unitarian minister is accused of assisting Rosemary Toole-Gilhooley (48) with her suicide at her apartment in Donnybrook in Dublin in January 2002.

Gardai have been seeking to have Mr Exoo brought to Ireland to stand trial.

A federal judge in West Virginia today said it could be the end of August before he decides whether Mr Exoo can be extradited. He refused to grant bail to Mr Exoo, who has been in custody in the state.
