Bulgarian incumbent Georgi Parvanov has won a second five-year term in office in a presidential run-off today, according to an exit poll.
Parvanov won 78 to 80 percent of votes in a second-round ballot defeating a nationalist who fought against Bulgaria's European Union entry, national radio reported, citing an exit survey from state polling agency NPOC.
In second place with 20 to 22 percent was Volen Siderov, leader of the nationalist attack party, who diplomats and mainstream parties said campaigned on undemocratic, anti-minority platform not compatible with the EU.
The survey, taken an hour before polls closed at 1500 GMT, said turnout was around 35 percent, below the 42.5 percent seen in the first round of voting on Oct. 22.
