Judgment was reserved yesterday by the Court of Criminal Appeal on an appeal by former Kilkenny hurler, Martin Coogan, against a four-year sentence imposed on him last year for indecently assaulting two young school girls. Coogan, of Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, a four times All-Ireland medal winner, is appealing the severity of the sentence imposed by Judge Sean O'Leary on June 5th, 1996.

Coogan was found guilty of indecently assaulting a 10-year-old schoolgirl on a date unknown between May 1st, 1994, and September 30th, 1994. He had pleaded guilty to another charge of indecent assault.

Mr Justice O'Flaherty said the court would give its decision today.
