Everton have confirmed they are in discussions with Celtic over Republic of Ireland midfielder Colin Healy.

Manager David Moyes is looking to strengthen his midfield following a spate of injuries and suspensions and has targeted 22-year-old Healy.

Healy's current Celtic contract expires in the summer and the player would be available for a nominal fee.

Everton chief executive Michael Dunford told the club's official website, "Preliminary talks between the two clubs have now taken place.

"But it is still unclear whether he will arrive in the transfer window or wait until the end of the season."
