EU foreign policy chief Mr Javier Solana has swiftly condemned today suicide bombing in Jerusalem and appealed to both the Palestinians and Israel to end the bloodshed.

Mr Solana expressed his "absolute condemnation" of the attack and insisted "all efforts must be made to get out of the cycle of violence," his spokeswoman Ms Cristina Gallach said.

"The diplomatic efforts of the European Union will go on, in order to help reestablish security," she said, adding that Mr Solana was in close contact with all the parties.
