ESB executives are reviewing the public affairs contract the board granted to Mr Frank Dunlop's public relations company earlier this year, it emerged at a board meeting yesterday.
A number of ESB executives and board members favour discontinuing the contract with Frank Dunlop and Associates after Mr Dunlop told the Flood tribunal he had hidden some of his income from the Revenue Commissioners earlier in the decade. Mr Dunlop also said he paid substantial sums to county councillors on behalf of property developer Mr Owen O'Callaghan.
Mr Dunlop is thought to have been paid more than £100,000 for his advice to the board over the last three years. His contract was recently re newed for two years after tendering. Mr Dunlop is said to have satisfied the ESB that his tax affairs were in order before the contract was renewed.
An ESB spokesman refused to confirm Mr Dunlop's contract was discussed at the meeting and did not want to make any comment.
