Judgment was reserved yesterday in an appeal by Northern Ireland Electricity against a judge's ruling which gave consumers a saving of about £6 a year in electricity bills.

A lawyer for NIE told the Court of Appeal in Belfast that price controls introduced by the electricity regulator, Mr Douglas McIldoon, were unlawful because he did not have the authority to impose them.
