A former security worker who staged a so called “tiger kidnapping” involving his housemates being bound and threatened at gunpoint has been given an eight-year term with two years suspended.

Darryl Caffrey (35), Cherrypark, Rivervalley, Swords, a former Chubb Ltd employee who had worked in cash-in-transit vans for the firm, gave information to a criminal gang on his employer and on the two men he shared a home with.

He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two charges of false imprisonment of the two, and to attempting to steal €1.25 million from Chubb between January 7th and 8th, 2007.
