A shark has killed an elderly German tourist at an Egyptian Red Sea resort, a few days after three Russians and a Ukrainian tourist were badly mauled in shark attacks.

Officials said the tourist died immediately after her arm was cut off by the shark while she was swimming off Sharm el-Sheikh, a renowned diving and vacation resort.

After last week’s attacks by oceanic white tip sharks, authorities ordered people to stay out of the water around Sharm el-Sheikh.

On Thursday, the Environment Ministry said two sharks suspected of mauling the four tourists were caught.

The victims were three Russians and a Ukrainian. One, woman lost a leg and another woman lost a hand.

Egyptian officials said they caught a seven foot (2.25 metre) shark weighing 330lbs (150 kilos) and a second that was eight foot (2.5 metres) long, weighing 550lbs pounds (250 kilos) near Sharm el-Sheikh.

The sharks were taken to Ras Mohammed Conservation Centre to be dissected for any human remains inside.

All four victims were flown to hospital in Cairo.

Swimmers were warned to stay out of the water in Sharm el-Sheikh, a favoured scuba diving destination.
