Thousands register for Concern funds fast

The Concern Fast, set for November 15th, will be that organisation's biggest fundraising event of the year. Some 2,000 people have already registered to fast, or "rumble" (as in the sounds made by a hungry stomach), for 24 hours. Second-level school pupils are being asked to take part and the school raising the highest average amount per student will have an opportunity to visit one of the Concern programmes overseas. The organisation is hoping to raise "an ambitious" £1.2 million, to help the world's poorest avoid starvation.
