The Burning Question: How does it feel to go to "big school"?

I've started at Gonzaga and I have no worries about it. Two of my friends are here - and my older brother. I'm looking forward to mini rugby. There are no girls in Gonzaga - I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I was a bit bored with primary school - the work was easy. Here it's more difficult and days are longer.

I'm in the High School Rathgar. I was so nervous about not making friends. I'm happy about doing new subjects I've never done before, like Latin. I liked being the oldest in Kildare Place and now I'm a little one again. I thought the cafe would be like the Wheatus Teenage Dirtbag video - but it's not really.

I'm at Gonzaga. Seven of my brothers and my dad came here - there's two here at the moment. Some enjoyed Gonzaga and some didn't. I felt a little bit nervous starting - the first day or so. Some of my friends came as well, but we aren't all in the same class. I miss primary school - it was a lot of fun.

I think it's better being in a mixed school - I'm at High School Rathgar. I was really scared before I started that I wouldn't make friends and that everyone else would be lots cooler than me - but it's not too bad really. I was worried that I wouldn't understand anything but apparently they go easy on you in first year.

I'm at Alex. I wasn't looking forward to it and I was really sad leaving primary school because I'd been there seven years. I have a sister here and you get a "buddy" from fifth year at the start to help you settle down or if you have any problems. I don't like it being all girls, but I guess the uniform isn't too bad.

I've started at Alex. It's a bit difficult to get used to because it's so big. It's cool having a locker. I like being able to make new friends and doing lots more sport. It was odd at first having a different teacher for every subject. I'm looking forward to doing science - maybe we'll blow the lab up like you see on TV.
