Opportunity to study for the unemployed

The City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee has produced a guide to courses for the period 2001 to 2002

The City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee has produced a guide to courses for the period 2001 to 2002. It costs £1 and is available from the VEC and in newsagents.

The guide deals with the full-time courses offered in the VEC's 20 schools as well as giving information on the courses it provides for adults in 113 community-based learning centres. All the names and contact points for the various schools and centres are listed as well as the adult education organisers for each of the main regions in Dublin.

The adult education organisers are very familiar with all of the courses on offer in their area and may be able to help direct those with specific learning needs. At the back of the guide there is a listing of literacy centres around Dublin and a clear rundown on the VTOS programme and how it works.

VTOS is designed to offer unemployed adults the opportunity to study full-time without losing their welfare benefits. Alongside details of each learning centre there is a map showing where it is and giving details about how to get there on public transport. The City of Dublin VEC is based at the Town Hall, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Telephone (01) 668 0614 or 668 4394.
