Open Day at GMIT Galway

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is holding an open day tomorrow, on Wednesday October 22nd from 9.30am to 4pm.

The open day includes guided tours and information talks on the college, its programmes and facilities in both the largest campus at GMIT headquarters on the Dublin Road and in Cluain Mhuire, the creative arts campus on the Monivea Road.

A shuttle bus service will operate from the Cluain Mhuire campus from 10am, with the last bus returning at 3pm. Booking is advisable due to the large numbers attending the event.

Atlantic Corridor Conference on Science Education Promotion

The conference will provide a unique forum with a wide range of international speakers who will explore the issues surrounding science education and its promotion. It will be held in Tullamore, Co Offaly on Thursday, October 23rd.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Prof Lord Robert Winston. Other speakers include:

Department of Medicine Lecture at UCC

The Department of Medicine/Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre presents the 10th Annual De Pazzi Lecture by cardiologist and author Dr John G Sotos MD. Entitled "Abraham Lincoln: A Unifying Diagnosis" it will take place at 8pm on Thursday, October 23rd in Boole 2 Lecture Theatre, UCC. All welcome and admission is free.

eTwinning Workshop

A bilateral Ireland-UK eTwinning workshop will take place from November 28th-30th in Belfast. The theme of the workshop is "History and Culture - Our European Heritage". Post-primary history teachers are invited to attend. The aim of the workshop is to develop eTwinning projects based on the theme. Information on eTwinning can be found at www.etwinning.net
