Japan is expected to announce today the results of its screening of a controversial history textbook for children. The book has drawn fire from opposition politicians and from Japan's Asian neighbours for what they say are its attempts to justify Japanese aggression in the 20th century.

In South Korea, a high-level working group of officials from various government agencies met to discuss their tactics to oppose the book. The Chinese government has also expressed its anger.
