Six second-level teachers received ASTI awards on Friday for their varied contributions.

Business-studies teacher Pat Morris from Colβiste Chroist R∅ in Cork was honoured for his handball exploits; Irish teacher Tiernan Dolan of St Mel's College, Longford, is an accomplished photographer with GOAL; science teacher Terry Flanagan of Moyle Park College, Clondalkin, Dublin, chairs the Irish Seal Sanctuary; music teacher Gerry Murphy of Gonzaga College, Dublin, is also an orchestral composer; English and history teacher Brian Maye of Sancta Maria College, Dublin, is a respected historical writer; and athletics coach John Kearney from St Colman's College, Fermoy, Co Cork, is a top runner himself.
