Guidance counsellors can expect to receive bundles of a newly launched magazine about careers in the tourism industry shortly. Get a life . . . in tourism is aimed at second-level students.

It is bright, colourful and filled with profiles of young individuals who are working in some part of the tourism industry. It aims to inform students about the opportunities and the types of jobs available in this sector - jobs can range from receptionist to personnel manager, gardener to financial controller and porter to bar person.

At present, 84,000 people work in the industry in Ireland.
