Students at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) today staged a picket over the introduction of clamping in their campus car park.

Up to 250 students, including mature students with young children, will be forced to park in nearby housing estates, according to the DKIT Students Union.

Spokesman Niall Callery said: "DKIT management should spare a thought for local residents and hard-working students who commute, and immediately revise their plans."

The Union of Students in Ireland supported the protest in the Co Louth town.
