LONDON - The Duchess of York has cleared her £4.2 million debt, it was reported last night. She will officially announce the news this weekend, according to the Sun.
"This does not mean I can sit back and relax. I've got to continue to work hard to pay my way," the duchess told the newspaper. The report comes just a few hours after the duchess - who banks with the queen's banker Coutts and Co - attended a ball in Vienna.
In recent months she has been reported to have earned More than £1 million from Weight Watchers in the US; £500,000 from Ocean Spray cranberry juice; £300,000 in advance for two children's books; £300,000 from Paris Match fort six interviews; An estimated £200,000 from Hello! magazine. Figures for profits from her book, My Story, are not known but she recently earned £20,000 in three hours by selling 1,200 copies at Harrods. She received a £1 million advance for it.
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: "The duchess's financial affairs are entirely a matter for her."
