Gardaí have named the man who died yesterday from injuries sustained during an attack in DUblin at the weekend.

Barry Walsh (22) from Castleknock, was pronounced dead at 1.40pm yesterday at Beaumont Hospital. He had sustained kicks and punches to the head and body during an assault opposite Marino College, Fairview, on the northside of the city at about 3.30am on Sunday, October 11th.

Gardaí have released a description of a man they are seeking in relation to the attack. He is about 22 years old with dark hair, tanned skin and is about 178cm tall.

Gardaí want to speak to workers and patrons of the Barcode Night Club and people who may have used the Fairview route on their way home at that time.

It is thought that there were a number of young people socialising in the area on Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning.

They are also appealing for taxi drivers who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident to contact them with any information which may assist the investigation.

Those with information should contact Clontarf Garda station at 01-666 4800.
