Gardai in Mallow, Co Cork, have interviewed the driver of a car believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident early on Saturday morning, writes Dick Hogan. The driver of a second car is also being sought.

Mr Kieran O'Flynn (23) was 400 yards from his home at Lavally, Mallow, when he was struck by a blue car. It has been established that he was struck by two cars as he made his way home after a concert. The incident occurred between 3.25 a.m. and 5.08 a.m. A Garda spokesman in Mallow said: "We are anxious to hear from anyone who may have travelled along the road between the times given. We are also appealing to garage owners to be alert because we believe the blue car - so far that's the only description we have of it - was damaged at the scene and the owner may try to have it repaired. In that event, we are asking garage owners to contact us at Mallow Garda Station or by telephone on 021-21105," he added.

The man's body was found on a slip road off the main Mallow-Killavullen road by a passing motorist. Mr O'Flynn was pronounced dead on arrival at Mallow General Hospital.
