Dixons Group Plc, Britain's biggest electricals retailer said today it was on track for a year of progress as sales so far this year have held steady despite the summer heatwave.

Ahead of its annual shareholders meeting the owner of Currys, PC World and mobile phone chain The Link said like-for-like retail sales were up one per cent in the 18 weeks to September 6th. That compares with analysts forecasts of a one to 2.4 per cent decline.

UK like-for-like sales were flat compared with predictions of a fall. Gross margins were slightly ahead of a year ago.
