The divorce legislation was ready and would be published as soon as was "legally proper", the Taoiseach said. Mr Bruton was replying to the Fianna Fail leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, who asked what the possible timetable was for its introduction.
Ms Helen Keogh (PD, Dun Laoghaire) said her party would give every assistance to the Government in having the matter resolved as soon as possible. Mr Bruton said there would be no avoidable delay as far as the Government was concerned.
