Ocracoke Island - Divers began a summer-long search off the North Carolina coast at the weekend for a French merchant ship believed to be the last vessel captured and sunk by the legendary English pirate Blackbeard in 1718. "Finding Blackbeard's final prize will help fill in the missing pieces of North Carolina's maritime history," said Mr Dave Pope, an underwater archaeologist.
