A meeting of the breakaway Garda staff association, the Garda Federation, is being held in Dublin today to coincide with the Dail debate on a Bill which would allow the Government to dissolve Garda staff associations which do not comply with statutory regulations.
The Garda Siochana Bill sets conditions for the constitution and conduct of Garda staff associations and provides the Minister for Justice with the power to dissolve them.
