A court has ordered that three people who had refused to pay their water charges should have their water supply disconnected.

A Fingal County Council official told Swords District Court yesterday that he had served final notice of the £127.50 due on Mr Niall O'Brien, of Thormanby Woods, Dublin, last September. Mr O'Brien told him he would not be paying the money.

Judge Sean Delap ordered the disconnection and also ordered that Mr O'Brien pay £100 costs to Fingal County Council.

He made the same order for costs and disconnection in the case of Ms Geraldine Murray, of Charlton Court, Swords, and Ms Philomena Browning, of Highfield Green, Swords.
