California, - The space shuttle Atlantis landed safely yesterday after bad weather delayed for two days its scheduled completion of a mission to the International Space Station.

After a third consecutive day of bad weather prevented a landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA flight controllers diverted the shuttle to Edwards Air Force Base where it touched down safely.

The bad weather extended the shuttle crew's 11-day mission to install the 1.4-billion-dollar Destiny space laboratory to the station. Atlantis - originally scheduled to land on Sunday - carried enough resources to stay in space until today.
