NAIROBI Deep and potentially fatal fractures in Kenya's fledgling opposition alliance were publicly exposed yesterday, giving another boost to President Daniel arap Moi's hopes for re election.

The Safina party, led by intellectuals including the conservationist Dr Richard Leakey, threatened to withdraw from the alliance talks unless the present leaders of opposition parties accepted a secondary role.
