A decision on whether nine Liberian stowaways, detained on a cargo ship in Waterford since the weekend, are to be sent home is expected within two days. A report has been sent to the Departments of Justice and Foreign Affairs for at decision on the granting of political asylum.
The nine men, interviewed yesterday by gardai and immigration officials, are in good spirits. A representative from the Nigerian embassy, which also represents Liberia, talked to them at length before returning to Dublin.
