DART bus link to airport opened

A bus service linking the DART system with Dublin airport was officially opened yesterday.

A bus service linking the DART system with Dublin airport was officially opened yesterday.

The Aerdart service, which will run every 15 minutes in both directions, will connect Howth Junction station with the airport. The service runs from Monday to Friday from 5.45 a.m. to 12.10 a.m. On Saturday, it runs from 6.30 a.m. to 12.10 a.m. On Sunday, it runs from 8.30 a.m. to 12.10 a.m.

It will also be also be available for passengers on the Drogheda-Belfast rail link.

The service provides for a new local bus route between the airport, Clare Hall, Donaghmede, Kilbarrack Road and Howth Junction.

A statement for Aerdart, which currently employs 20 staff, said it expected to carry more than 400,000 passengers in the first full year of operation. It says it has invested £1 million in vehicles.

It had been running, on a trial basis, since April and was doing "very well" - growing by 15 per cent per week, said Mr Allen Parker, managing director of Aerdart Ltd.
