Labour Ministers are responsible for charging VAT on schoolchildren's tracksuits while subsidising school uniforms, according to Senator John Dardis, Progressive Democrats candidate in Co Kildare.
Mr Dardis said the diverging policies of the Minister for Finance, Mr Quinn, and the Minister for Education, Ms Breathnach, were "a fine example of the looney left". He called for an explanation of the imposition of VAT on a local trncksuit manufacturer.
